In this self portrait, shepresentsherself
asboth the subject andobject of the
painting. It is said that sheoftenwore
Tehuana clothing (traditionalMexican
attire) topleaseher husband. Themini
portrait of RiveraonKahlo’s forehead
also showsher love anddevotion for
him –hewas alwaysonhermind.
芙烈達一生際遇坎坷,丈夫狄亞哥.里維
拉同樣是一位藝術家,二人之間愛恨交
織、離合不定的婚姻更為她的經歷添上動
盪起跌,直至她離世後數十年,這段關係
依然令人嘖嘖稱奇。《穿著特旺納裳的自
畫像》的作者與繪畫對象同樣是芙烈達自

NickolasMuray (1892 –1965)was a
Hungarian-bornAmericanphotographer
andOlympic fencer. In1931, hemet
FridaKahlo inMexico and the chance
meetinghad led to anon-again, off-
again love affair that spanned adecade.
His1938'sportrait of Kahlowasmade
while she sojourned inNewYork,
attendingher exhibition at the Julien
LevyGallery, and it becameoneof the
best known and lovedportraitsmade
byMuray. The two remained closeuntil
Kahlo'sdeath in1954.
